• Kajto and Jarek comfortably hold third place in their first outing in Northern Ireland;
  • LOTOS Rally Team crew finished all four stages of the first Saturday’s loop in top three;
  • Kajetanowicz – quickest driver from outside the British Isles – successfully puts pressure on his opponents.
Day 2 of Circuit of Ireland Rally started with four demanding special stages. On the first loop Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Jarek Baran recorded only top three times, including two second-best results. Thanks to these excellent performance LOTOS Rally Team crew leads the classification of Day 2 and reduced the gap to the leaders – Barrable/Connolly – holding great third place in overall standings. Kajetan and Jarek are also the quickest newcomers to round three of FIA ERC and leading crew from outside the British Isles.

Narrow, fast and bumpy roads south of Belfast were mostly dry today, with few places which were still damp. Polish crew found excellent pace in these conditions, different to what they experienced yesterday. They consistently put a lot of pressure on local opponents from Ireland and Great Britain, who perfectly know these roads. There are still six stages to go, with total length of 65.21 kms. The final loop starts with two runs of spectacular city stage and then the crews will compete on the same three stages which they tackled in the morning.

Kajetan Kajetanowicz: – Irish drivers are very quick, especially on these special stages, but we are also doing great job (smile). Our car is perfectly prepared and the tyre choice for these four stages in the morning was very good. I have good feeling behind the wheel so the opportunity is still there – and as long as we have a chance, we will go for it. We are trying to win this rally, although this task is exceptionally difficult. I made one mistake during this loop. I did not brake enough, we spun and we had to turn back, losing few seconds. I am happy anyway, because we are the quickest crew in classification of Day 2. It is fantastic feeling to defeat such fast and experienced drivers on these roads. I am tired after each stage but this does not mean that I am not prepared well – it means that we do our best. You have to take risks when you fight for victory but we want to go for it and we will do it.
